Dear IAHCSMM, Guess who is meeting around the “watering hole” in Texas…. It is with great pleasure that I announce the formation of TxSACSP—The Texas State Association of Central Service Professionals. On Saturday, August 28th, eighteen Central Service professionals met at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas to discuss the very important issue of mandatory certification. We had an amazing turnout and representation from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Harlingen and Texarkana. Those present were: Adrian Flores, Tami Cass, Kevin Brown Sr., Thelma Barrett, Bobby Williams, Joyce Dickerson, Kevin Wagers, Frank Jaramillo, Jean Allen-Smith, Ana Vinas, Ruthie Payheur, Ralph Black, Wilda Kerubo, Betty Strickland, Yulanda Hamilton and Bob Marrs. The members in attendance felt that we would not be able to present a united front at the state level without representation of a formal effort of all Central Service personnel in this great state. As a result of some excellent brainstorming and discussion, the decision was made to form TxSACSP allowing an opportunity for all Central Service personnel, regardless of association affiliation, to become a part of this great undertaking. During this meeting, a “Mission Statement” and “Vision Statement” were written as well the nomination and election of an “Executive Board” and “Regional Representatives.” TxSACSP

Representatives Now we will begin our “Round-up” here in Texas…We are looking for all CS/SP/MM professionals that are willing to become an integral part of this great endeavor. We need all the help we can get and look forward to growing the largest state association in the nation. (Being from Texas we would not have it any other way). The TxSACSP executive board is very excited about the impact that we can have, not only in Texas, but across the nation as well. Together we can achieve excellence as we strive to “raise the bar” in our profession. If you have any questions, please contact Bob Marrs or Joyce Dickerson. Thank you very much, Bob Marrs CST, CRCST, CHL Joyce Dickerson CST, CRCST, FEL
